Dear LIPAedge Participant:
On behalf of LIPA and the LIPAedge program team, I would like to personally thank you for helping to make our first summer a huge success. This past summer we instituted the LIPAedge conservation program four times, including three in a row during the brutal heat wave the week of August 6th, 2001. Through your participation in the LIPAedge program, we were able to save almost 2 MW of electricity during the hours in which LIPA had the greatest need. All of your efforts helped keep the electric system reliable and available for all Long Islanders. Most importantly, you have proven that this technology can be an effective tool in LIPA's resource management mix.
We currently have almost 4,000 customers in the LIPAedge program. Our goal is to enroll 30,000 customers by the end of next summer.
Starting October 1, 2001, we are going to offer our LIPAedge participants a special opportunity to earn a $20.00 cash reward for each LIPA customer referral they provide who installs a LIPAedge thermostat. The reward program is very simple. Enclosed with this letter is a LIPAedge Reward program description. All you do is tell a friend or relative about the program, have them call the 1-866- LIPAEDGE (1-866-547-2334) number and when they sign up and are successfully installed we will automatically send you your $20.00 reward. In addition to the $20.00 cash reward, your name will also be entered into a random drawing for additional special prizes. Make sure your friend or relative tells the LIPAedge infoline representative that you referred them to the program and also make sure they have your name, address and account number handy. You can make up to ten referrals and earn as much as $200. Please help us make this program even better in 2002 by referring someone who has a central air conditioning system.
